Abstract:

In this talk we will describe a dynamically useful q-tessellation Tesq(Sp) of the smoothly compactified parameter curve Sp. Here p and q can be any positive integers. Our tessellations may well have faces which are not simply connected. In this talk we will present an outline of the fact that Tesp(Sp) is simply connected when p is prime.
This is work in progress with J. Kiwi and J. Milnor.
